SDOT is seeking a team-oriented Senior Curbspace Planner (Senior Transportation Planner) to join our Curbside Management team within the Transit & Mobility Division. This transportation professional should be familiar with curb management and curb data, as well as general data analysis and mapping, to serve as a key member of this team. We are responsible for managing the City's paid parking, permit parking, and loading within the public right-of-way, providing efficient access for the traveling public.

In this role, you will manage operational components of SDOT's paid parking system, along with supporting other programs and initiatives. Beyond paid parking, you will also serve as a key member of other programs and projects, including the Restricted Parking Zone program, curbspace data management, vendor-payment platforms, curbspace reservations, event parking pricing, and neighborhood parking changes.

* Coordinates changes and implementation of new paid parking areas using City and Contractor systems with office staff and the SDOT Parking Shop.

* Utilizes City and Contractor systems to manage curbspace assets and parking rates and regulations, including supporting parking studies and rate updates.

* Manages ongoing coordination with parking payment vendors.

* Manages and coordinates special event parking rates and curbspace restrictions near Climate Pledge Arena.

* Tracks and reports on paid parking transaction trends, identifying data discrepancies and works to resolve them.

* Collaborates on solutions for innovative curbspace management in Seattle.

* Supports SDOT's Restricted Parking Zone Program, including advising on program policy, customer communications, and assisting in tracking permit volumes and trends issued through the City's permit portal, Accela.

* Represents SDOT and curbspace management goals in interactions with the public, including virtual, written, and in-person correspondences. This includes staffing virtual and occasional in-person public hearings, open houses, or other similar events.

* Supports work team budget coordination, tracking, and development.

* Analyzes and summarizes parking studies and curbspace trends, and develops maps and figures, using GIS, Excel and similar tools.

* Supports department goals in promoting diversity and social justice.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

* Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Transportation Planning, Urban Planning.

Experience:

* Three (3) years of experience with transportation planning or transportation development.

OR:
An equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the position duties.

Though not requirements, strong candidates will have some of the following experience or are able to describe comparable experience:

* Familiarity working with spatial information, data dashboards, and transit and demographic data

* Graduate degree in transportation planning, urban planning, public policy, or a related field.

* Strong understanding of urban, transportation, and regional planning principles and research methods

* Strong communication skills, including messaging, ability to engage in culturally relevant community outreach approaches, and ability to work in diverse environments.

* Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

Other Requirements:

Work Environment / Physical Demands:

* Work is typically performed in a hybrid work environment in which a minimum of 3 days of work is completed in a City office, and 2 days of work is completed remotely in a regular 40-hour work week.

* May need to attend occasional evening public meetings and/or perform site visits.

License, Certification and Other Requirements:

* Current State of Washington driver's license, or comparable mobility.
