SALARY

$154,129 - $178,525

New hires may earn a salary ranging from the minimum to the midpoint of the pay scale, with education and experience taken into consideration.

ABOUT THIS ROLE

The Senior Controller of Affordable Housing Real Estate provides strong financial leadership and is responsible for the operational accounting and financial reporting for the agency and its related party entities. This includes accounting for residential and commercial building operations, condo associations, construction and renovation of buildings, social service grants, payee services, fundraising, and the overall Plymouth organization. The Senior Controller ensures that accounting practices are consistent with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and comply with all governmental, external funder, and investor requirements.

This position reports to the CFO and leads the real estate accounting team, directly supervising the Senior Real Estate Accountants.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

* Lead the annual operating and capital budget processes for Plymouth real estate entities, ensuring alignment with strategic goals, financial stability, grantor expectations, and investor requirements.

* Prepare financial reporting and financial projections for management, the board, external funders, and investors.

* Collaborate with the Real Estate Development team on 20-year pro forma operating budgets for new housing developments to ensure alignment with the agency's ability to operate in accordance with the pro forma.

* Lead property grant billing and report grant utilization to building operations, Permanent Supportive Housing, and Behavioral Health teams to support management oversight.

* Plan, direct, and coordinate operational accounting functions, including monthly general ledger close, balance sheet reconciliations, and intercompany transactions.

* Ensure the organization's financial records are accurate and maintained in accordance with accounting standards for nonprofit agencies.

* Oversee social services and operating grant accounting, including governmental audits and reviews.

* Oversee real estate accounting for buildings under development, including accounting, reporting, and cost certifications for LIHTC projects.

* Direct the annual external audit process and ensure accurate preparation of audited financial statements for real estate entities.

* Partner with the Senior Controller for Nonprofit to complete eliminations and consolidation for combined and consolidated financials.

* Support the CFO in developing and monitoring financial management policies and procedures.

* Develop and monitor the annual work plan to accomplish strategic goals.

* Hire, train, mentor, and retain skilled accounting and finance staff while fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.

* Evaluate internal controls and ensure that controls are consistently followed.

* Provide backup administration for key accounting systems, including MIP Fund Accounting, Prophix Financial Planning & Analysis, and Boston Post property management software.

* Evaluate accounting systems and processes for effectiveness and recommend improvements as needed.
