Amazon Web Services is seeking an outstanding Data Engineering Manager to join the AWS Data Platform team.

The AWS Data Platform team's mission is to help AWS be a more data driven business. The data engineering and analytics at AWS is the backbone for how we measure what we are doing, where we are going, find new opportunities to test things, or find fresh problems to solve. We help AWS teams to identify great metrics to define high impact projects and find drivers and components that make it succeed or fail. Finally, we arm decision makers with actionable information that can be as metrics, data tools or one-off insights to decide whenever they need to.

We are truly leading the way to disrupt the data warehouse industry. We are accomplishing this vision by leveraging relational database technologies like Redshift, EMR along with emerging Big Data technologies like Elastic Map Reduce (EMR), Glue, Lake Formation to build a data platform capable of scaling with the ever-increasing volume of data produced by AWS services. The successful candidate will have the ability to shape and build the AWS Data Platform and supporting systems for years to come.

As a Data Engineering Manager, you are responsible for managing the team comprised of Data Engineers and BI Engineers. The primary area of your focus is on data engineering innovation and core data platform services (Enterprise Data Lake and Data Warehouse) through self-service data products to gain business insights. In addition, you will spearhead enterprise wide data security, governance, and cost efficiency initiatives, empowered through the latest industry trends and best practices. The perfect candidate will be an experienced people manager who also possesses strong technical knowledge in data engineering, data observability, Infrastructure automation, data ops methodology, systems architecture, and development. You will have experience managing an engineering team and have implemented large scale data engineering solutions consumed by a variety of applications and systems.

* A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or an equivalent combination of technical education and work experience
* 5+ years of experience managing software development/Infrastructure automation/DevOps teams
* 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering, ETL pipelines automation with CI/CD, Data Quality Management and Operations.
* 5+ years of people management experience and good track of developing engineers
* Have strong technical knowledge in Infrastructure automation, Data-Ops strategy, data engineering, system design and architecture.
* Strong technical knowledge in building and deploying applications on Cloud
* Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment with minimal outside direction, while constantly advancing long term goal
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
