POSITION TITLE:
Staffing Specialist


ASSIGNMENT:
Staffing Specialist - Exceptional Student Education


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Valid Florida Teaching Certificate covering at least one area in Exceptional Education
  • Minimum of two (2) years teaching experience in one or more areas of Exceptional Education
  • A valid Florida Driver's License and personal transportation
  • Physical Requirements:

    Light Work:
    Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed to move objects
  • Satisfactory clearance of a criminal history records check and drug screening
  • ADDITIONAL DESIRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

    Physical requirements to perform essential functions and tasks which may include; lifting, crawling, kneeling, bending, stooping, pulling, and pushing, if required

    PRIMARY PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Maintains close working relationship with administrators, guidance staff, ESE head teachers, and other staff in assigned schools
  • Aids in curriculum development and instructional programming for ESE classes in assigned schools:
  • conducts classroom visitations with ESE staff
  • assists ESE teachers in developing appropriate scheduling and instruction in conjunction with administrative staff
  • reviews purchases of adopted materials with Director of Student Support Services
  • attends curriculum inservice programs requested by the Director of Student Support Services
  • provides inservice for ESE teachers
  • assists with ESE field trip plans upon request
  • assists in the development of curriculum for school ESE programs
  • assists in the development of plans for summer school at assigned schools
  • Conducts staffing for all students who are evaluated for inclusion in the ESE programs; assure that racial makeup is consistent with state and federal mandates; aid in development of individual education plans for each student assuring an appropriate education; evaluate periodically the attainment of objectives for students placed in the program in assigned schools as well as participate in all program evaluation activities:
  • develops monthly reports
  • reviews records
  • consults with other district staff regarding placement, services, etc.
  • consults with physicians and psychologists, psychiatrists, other diagnostic professionals
  • telephones other district for student records when requested by schools
  • attends guidance committee meetings when requested by the school
  • responds to parent question/concerns
  • assists teachers in developing IEP's
  • investigates complaints
  • develops and implements transition processes for ESE students from level to level
  • Makes special transportation arrangements for exceptional students housed in assigned schools
  • Develops components for inservice education in conjunction with Director of Student Support Services and staff from FDLRS
  • Cooperatively plans summer programs for students placed in ESE programs in assigned schools
  • Provides on-going inservice to assigned school staff with special emphasis on new ESE teachers
  • Serves as state department contact for specific program areas assigned
  • Scrutinizes reports for accuracy when submitted by assigned schools or teachers:
  • FTE - October and February
  • 94-142 Count in December
  • ESE teacher monthly reports
  • ESE teacher schedules
  • Informal data gathering of staffing results
  • Federal reports
  • Maintains close working relationships with agency personnel working with individual students
  • Attends necessary meetings in order to facilitate good working relationships with schools, agencies, and/or the general public
  • Provides specific curriculum expertise in assigned program areas
  • Serves as Beginning Teacher Professional at the request of the principal
  • Aids in recruitment efforts for assigned program areas/schools and serves on interview committees if requested
  • Conducts all articulation staffing between levels
  • Aids in the development of Adaptive Physical Education Program for disabled students in conjunction with Director of Student Support Services
  • ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

    Performs all other duties as assigned by the supervising administrator
