Temporary Camp/ Workshop Support Aid (Academic and Workforce)
Wallace Community College Selma is continuously accepting applications for temporary instructors to work in various academic and workforce related camps and workshops conducted by the College throughout the year. Instructors are responsible for creating a dynamic, engaging experience for students and fostering a fun and safe learning environment. The types of camps and workshops put on throughout the year include, but are not limited to, the following:
- ACT Preparation
- LEGO Engineering
- STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) Academy
- BEST (Boosting Engineering, Science, and Technology) Robotics
- Aviation (Instructor and Support Aide)
- Cyber Security (Instructor and Support Aide)
- Theatre
SALARY: Dependent upon the type of training and related skills, certifications, licenses, and the specialized business and industry expertise for the contracted services. The rate will be determined by the applicable dean.
Responsibilities- Assist the instructor in teaching foundational cybersecurity concepts such as digital citizenship, online safety, networking basics, ethical hacking principles, and cyber defense strategies.
- Assist student in using cybersecurity tools, simulations, and beginner-friendly labs.
- Assist in maintaining a safe and productive learning environment for participants.
- Assist in enforcing camp rules, cybersecurity ethics, and acceptable-use policies.
- Assist with setup, testing, and breakdown of classroom technology, software, and lab environments.
- Assist in monitoring students’ progress and provide guidance, feedback, and support as needed.
- Assist in ensuring all activities comply with college, district, and program safety standards.
- Model professionalism, integrity, and positive engagement with students, parents, and staff.
- Support cybersecurity-themed games, competitions, and group projects (e.g., capture-the-flag challenges).
- Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Camp Instructor, Associate Dean of Learning, the Dean of Instruction, or the President.
- Associate’s Degree or higher in Computer Science or related field from a regionally accredited institution.
- Experience working with and teaching K-12 students
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution in the field or a related discipline
- Training or work experience in the assigned program
