Job Summary

The Entry-level Civil and Water Resources Engineer role is a position within Trihydro’s Infrastructure and Natural Resources Business Unit. As a team member, you will assist with developing solutions for municipalities, state agencies, conservation and irrigation districts, and private clients. You will address civil infrastructure and water resource needs and improvements, working within multidisciplinary project teams. You will assist in improving infrastructure systems, including water supply, sanitary sewer, transportation, and stormwater systems while supporting the assessment and development of water resources to meet agricultural, municipal, and industrial demands, as well as environmental objectives.

This full-time position requires approximately 40-45 hours per week. If you thrive in a collaborative environment, this opportunity is ideal for you.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform technical research and design calculations.
  • Learn design and modeling software, draft figures, and prepare construction plan sets.
  • Perform assigned design tasks, quantity calculations, and construction cost estimates.
  • Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic modeling.
  • Research construction materials and coordinate with suppliers.
  • Prepare technical memorandums, design reports, and permitting applications.
  • Conduct field data collection, perform site inspections and inventories, and observe, monitor and report on construction.
Qualifications
  • Recent graduate or new to civil engineering, minimal to no engineering design experience, looking to build technical foundation.
  • Experience with or interest in civil infrastructure, water and wastewater systems, transportation, and water resources.

  • Engineer-in-training (E.I.T. or F.E.) or plans to obtain E.I.T. or F.E. within 6 months.
  • Experienced in AutoCAD and Civil 3D or related CADD programs (not required but helpful).
  • Proficiency with HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, Sewer Gems, GIS, or other hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software preferred but not required.
  • Strong technical and problem-solving skills; attention to detail, accuracy, and completeness; commitment to high-quality deliverables.
  • Willingness to travel to client locations and other Trihydro offices.
  • Understanding of time-management importance and excellent organizational skills.
