Overview
The Setting Out Engineer will be responsible for providing accurate and precise setting‑out points and measurements on construction sites, ensuring that the structure or infrastructure being built aligns with project plans and specifications. The role involves technical support, quality maintenance, and close collaboration with project teams.
Responsibilities- Use surveying equipment such as total stations, GPS, and laser levels to establish accurate points, lines, and levels on site.
- Interpret and analyze construction drawings, plans, and specifications to ensure accurate setting‑out of construction elements.
- Mark out reference points and guide construction teams to follow accurate dimensions.
- Monitor and inspect the quality of work, ensuring it meets project requirements and industry standards.
- Identify any discrepancies or deviations from plans and work closely with the project team to resolve them.
- Ensure that all works are carried out in accordance with safety regulations and quality standards.
- Maintain detailed records of all setting‑out activities, measurements, and quality checks.
- Prepare progress reports and provide feedback to senior engineers and project managers.
- Ensure that all setting‑out equipment is maintained, calibrated, and in good working condition.
- University‑level degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Land Surveying, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in setting‑out engineering or a similar role within the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of surveying equipment (e.g., Trimble, total stations, GPS, laser levels) and related software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D).
- Familiarity with construction drawings, specifications, and design documentation.
- Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Valid driving licence and willingness to travel to various project sites across Ireland.
