Primary
Purpose:
Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the core academic subject area assigned, helping them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Develop or modify curricula and prepare lessons and other instructional materials to match student ability levels. Work in self‑contained, team, department, or itinerant settings as assigned. Coach assigned sports.
- Education/Certification: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university; valid Texas teaching certificate in assigned area.
- Valid CDL, or willingness to obtain one within the first year of employment with the district.
- Special Knowledge/
Skills:
Knowledge of the core academic subject assigned; knowledge of curriculum and instruction; ability to instruct students and manage their behavior; strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. - Experience: One year of student teaching or approved internship.
- Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the district’s curriculum program requirements and provide written evidence of preparation as required.
- Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, equipment, and technology that reflect an understanding of student learning styles and needs.
- Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
- Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula for special education students according to IEP guidelines.
- Collaborate with staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods based on district requirements.
- Plan and assign work to instructional aide(s) and volunteer(s) and oversee completion.
- Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
- Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned and sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal.
- Be a positive role model for students and support the mission of the school district.
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
- Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Compile, maintain, and file all required reports, records, and documents.
- Participate in staff development activities to improve job‑related skills.
- Comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
- Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
