Summary
The Expansion Coordinator supports NOPEC’s efforts to grow membership by assisting with outreach to Ohio communities considering participation in NOPEC’s natural gas and electric aggregation programs. This role works closely with and reports to the Director of Community Expansion to help guide communities through the evaluation, legislative, and onboarding processes required to join NOPEC.
The Expansion Coordinator will help coordinate communications, track expansion activities in the company’s CRM system, research prospective communities, prepare materials for elected officials and administrators, and support the internal and external processes necessary to successfully onboard new member communities.
This position is ideal for someone interested in public policy, municipal government, energy markets, and community engagement.
The position is full-time and based in Solon, Ohio.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesIllustrative duties may include, but are not restricted to, one or more of the following:
Community Outreach Support – 25% of time
- Assist with outreach to Ohio municipalities and townships exploring NOPEC membership.
- Coordinate publishing legal notices in newspapers of record for public hearings on the NOPEC Plan of Operations and Governance.
- Staff public hearings and other external engagements related to community expansion.
- Coordinate meetings with mayors, council members, township trustees, and administrators.
- Prepare background research on prospective communities utilizing business intelligence and other resources.
- Analyze results of targeted web search reports for benefit of market intelligence and strategic planning.
Internal Coordination – 25% of time
- Maintain and manage the company’s Customer Relationship Management software for all expansion opportunities.
- Maintain and manage new community onboarding checklists in coordination with the Director.
- Work with NOPEC departments and partners, including:
- Marketing (assigned department)
- Relationship Management
- Operations
- Legal
- NOPEC’s supplier of electricity and natural gas
to ensure smooth onboarding of new member-communities. In addition to internal coordination, the Expansion Associate will work with consultants assigned to support NOPEC’s community expansion efforts.
Presentation & Communications – 20% of time
- Develop and customize presentation materials used in meetings with community leaders.
- Assist with preparing briefing documents for elected officials.
- Coordinate follow-up communications with community stakeholders.
- Plan and organize kick-off meetings for launch of new community aggregation programs.
Government & Legislative Support – 15% of time
- Support preparation of materials related to council meetings, resolutions, and ballot initiatives when required.
- Monitor timelines related to PUCO filings and community onboarding milestones.
Market & Community Research – 15% of time
- Maintain Expansion Department prospect information and opportunity pipeline.
- Research communities that may benefit from joining NOPEC.
- Monitor local government activity and identify potential expansion opportunities.
- Maintain data related to community energy usage, aggregation status, and program timelines.
- Strong written and verbal communication.
- Proficiency and comfort with presenting in public meetings to public officials and community members.
- Ability to interact professionally with elected officials and municipal staff.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
- Comfortable managing multiple timelines and projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
- Sitting, standing and bending.
- Ability to use office equipment including but not limited to office copier, shredder, computer equipment, audio/visual equipment.
- Ability to speak in a clear and easily comprehensible manner.
- Valid Ohio Driver’s License and proof of automobile insurance at a level established by NOPEC.
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, public administration, political science, marketing, or related field.
- Two or more years of professional experience.
- Incumbent will work in a hybrid office environment. Incumbent should understand the expectation that this job periodically requires a 40+ hour per week commitment.
