Registered Nurse (RN) – Post Acute Nursing Unit (Days) – Full Time, Rotating Weekends (6:30/7:00). Commitment Bonus: $15,000 for a two‑year commitment.
Job SummaryLake Cumberland Regional Hospital is part of Lifepoint Health. The Registered Nurse is responsible for delivering comprehensive nursing care to patients on the Post Acute unit, ensuring high quality, ethical, and professional standards across all patient interactions.
Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care to adults, geriatric, adolescent, and child populations using the nursing process and organizational policies.
- Plan, delegate, and coordinate nursing care under the supervision of the Department Leader and in collaboration with ancillary departments.
- Meet standards of care, perform duties ethically, and assist in staff management and collaboration with the healthcare team.
- Assess and plan patient/family education needs, implement educational interventions, and evaluate learning outcomes.
- Document assessment, plan of care, interventions, and educational outcomes in the Electronic Medical Record.
- Assist with daily MDS sections, identify patient needs and potential problems, and facilitate an organized priority plan of care.
- Supervise and assign patient care tasks to LPNs, Nursing Assistants, and other team members based on acuity and staff proficiency.
- Recognize and respond to emergency and life‑threatening situations appropriately.
- Assist other personnel in care delivery and observe staff activities, providing recommendations for improvement.
- Communicate care plans through huddles, briefs, debriefs, bedside reports, progress notes, and direct communication with team members.
- Provide patient/family education using the teach‑back method and recommend additional education when needed.
- Administer medications and treatments, including IV medications, blood products, hyperalimentation, epidural analgesia, patient‑controlled analgesia, and chemotherapy.
- Utilize, maintain, and charge equipment and supplies; check emergency equipment/drugs for proper operation and availability each shift.
- Maintain a safe patient and work environment by adhering to infection control and safety policies.
- Receive and document physician orders, follow up on patient outcomes, and ensure orders are carried out per policy.
- Assist physicians with bedside procedures and perform related duties incidental to the position.
- Assist with AM care and bed bath.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings, in‑services, projects, and committees as assigned.
- Request and put supplies away, key in work orders, order daily dietary supplies.
- Perform receptionist duties and work scheduled shifts and overtime as necessary.
- Associate degree in Nursing (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Current RN license to practice in the state of Kentucky.
- BCLS required within 90 days of hire.
- ACLS preferred if working in Charge RN position.
