Shop Volunteer; General Assistant - Crewkerne

Your local British Red Cross shop has a variety of activities available for volunteers to support us in. From sorting stock & preparing donated items for sale to providing great customer service to our donors and customers, we have something to suit most people’s interests. Our shop is a great place to learn new skills and share existing ones.

We are currently looking for General Assistant volunteers to help us in our shop. Activities include helping behind the scenes in sorting and preparing donated stock and preparing attractive displays on the shop floor – and many more.

If you have a few hours a week you can spare on a regular basis, this may be the opportunity for you.

No two days in our shops are ever the same. From the exciting donations that come through our door to the wonderful customers who shop with us, our shops are ever‑changing. But one thing that never changes is that we need volunteers to help us spread the power of kindness.

• Creating exciting window displays
• Sorting donations for sale
• Meeting new people
• Checking the quality of donated items and preparing them for sale or recycling
• Ironing, cleaning, labelling and pricing items ready for sale
• Keeping the shop well organised and tidy
• General activities around the shop

• No previous experience is needed
• A warm smile and a friendly outlook

• Reasonable pre‑agreed travel expenses for the role including for attending training

A few hours during the week or weekend – as agreed with the shop manager. There is no minimum commitment or fixed hours; we only ask that we agree on hours you are confident you can attend and that you let us know where these hours may change.
