Ivanplats Metallurgy Internship Opportunity Minimum Requirements

• A 4-year BSc, BTech, or BEng Degree in Extractive Metallurgy or Chemical Engineering (NQF Level
  7)
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work collaboratively across different departments
• Must be based in Mokopane or willing to relocate

Ivanplats Metallurgy Internship Opportunity Experience Requirements

Suitable candidates should have:

• Minimum 2 years post-qualification experience with proven concentrator plant experience as an intern metallurgist
• Basic understanding of plant control room operations
• Knowledge of metal accounting principles, practices, and implementation (advantageous)
• Knowledge of mass and metal balancing for PGM and base metals (advantageous)
• Experience in process control systems, information databases, and metallurgical optimisation systems (advantageous)
• Understanding of PGM and base metal analytical methods
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and plant software systems

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Conducting or supervising routine plant sampling
• Monitoring recovery, throughput, grind size, density, reagent consumption, and concentrate grade
• Identifying process bottlenecks and inefficiencies
• Participating in metallurgical test work and plant trials
• Compiling daily, weekly, and monthly metallurgical reports
• Investigating deviations in recovery or grade performance
• Supporting senior metallurgists with process optimisation initiatives

Additional Duties

• Monitoring water treatment plant performance
• Managing process monitoring equipment, calibrations, and certifications
• Validating smart sensor data for system functionality and uptime
• Coordinating with cross-functional teams to implement and monitor process improvements
