As a Wastewater Operator II
, you’ll join a collaborative team ensuring that our clients can deliver their services uninterrupted. Based in Southbridge, MA, you’ll perform a variety of tasks in the operation and maintenance of a wastewater treatment plant, including maintenance of equipment, quality‑control testing, report compilation, record‑keeping, and adherence to compliance with policies and procedures. You’ll contribute to the success of our program with efficient preventive maintenance and effective solutions to complex challenges that may arise in municipal facilities.
You’ll diagnose operating problems, monitor and control adjustments, and determine proper rates in the treatment facilities to control flow and processing of water/wastewater, sludge, and effluent. You’ll also collect samples, maintain shift logs, and perform other duties as required. Most importantly, you’ll take action to ensure the safety, health and well‑being of you and your team.
- Certified at a level of Massachusetts Class 3‑M full or higher, or ability to obtain through reciprocity.
- At least one (1) year of experience operating water/wastewater treatment plants.
- Advanced understanding of computer software, including Microsoft Office Suite, and the ability to enter data into a maintenance management system.
- A valid driver’s license with no major infractions.
- A current or working toward obtaining a MA hoisting engineer license 2A or 2B.
- An intermediate to advanced level collection system certification.
- Familiarity with the principles and practices of water/wastewater treatment plant operations, valves, pumps, and motors.
- Safe work practices.

SalaryThe base salary range for this position is $60,100.00–$72,800.00, paid hourly based on hours worked. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
