Construction Trades Manager

What to Expect

As a Construction Trades Manager, you will be playing a critical role in new construction at the world’s largest factories. You will work in the office and the field supporting the construction trades teams including Electrical, Mechanical, Tool Install, and CSA. You will be asked to work cross-functionally, interfacing with other trades, construction engineering, and manufacturing engineering while tracking multiple project schedules and budgets.

• Develop and manage a high performing team to plan, execute and turn over self‑executed construction scopes; develop execution plans to ensure cost and schedule expectations are achieved
• Maintain project schedules to ensure work aligns with fast‑paced timelines, employing proactive project layout and planning to set the team up for success
• Manage and direct trader superintendents and construction crews, assigning tasks and communicating responsibilities clearly. Ensure adherence to safety, HR, and company policies consistently
• Audit employee timecards accurately, oversee time off requests including vacation and sick leave, and ensure compliance with the project schedule along with all HR policies, addressing any issues as necessary
• Identify project risks and opportunities, actively managing them throughout the project lifecycle
• Uphold a structured and balanced work environment within the team by using strategies such as goal setting, coaching, performance assessments, training, roster management, and disciplinary action when necessary
• Tesla people leaders are responsible for a variety of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) assurance functions, including ensuring their teams’ safety training is current, documenting EHS incidents, proactively correcting workplace hazards, and empowering others to continuously improve operations

• At least 7 years of experience on large commercial or industrial construction projects
• At least 5 years of managing construction crews and developing construction teams
• Proficiency in construction cost control, construction drawings/plan review and document control
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Computer literacy with Navisworks, Bluebeam and Plan Grid
