Salary: Teacher, $88,178 - $127,737 per annum (pro-rata) (SEA GA 2023)

We are seeking to establish a pool of Education Support Teachers for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026school year and up to the end of Term 1, 2027. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

The School

Spencer Park Education Support Centre's (SPESC's) vision of “Partnerships for Success Learning” places a strong focus on providing Students in the areas of ‘Learning’, ‘Inclusion’ and their ‘Wellbeing. We are situated alongside the Spencer Park Primary School and work closely with them at every opportunity providing opportunities to be included with their primary school peers.

In supporting students learning to self-regulated emotions and engage in social experiences SPESC employees Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) expectations and specialised in supporting student with complex behaviours to develop social communication, emotional regulation and social skills that supports each student learning to “Be Safe, Be Friendly and to Be Your Best.”

SPESC is one of five support centres in Western Australia to offer a specialised learning program for children in Kindergarten and Pre-primary with Global Developmental Delay (GDD) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Through the Early Intervention Program students work in an explicit instruction model designed to prepare children for Year 1 at their local mainstream school.

We are seeking applicants who are familiar with or possess knowledge and skills for working with students with a range of disabilities and are able to implementation a range of strategies to support and enhance individual learning and development in all areas. Applicants will also ideally have highly effective teaching practices, an ability to self-reflect and a willingness to seek constant improvement in their own practice.

All students show progress and achievement in their learning against their individualised learning plans and programs.

Our teachers plan, program, and assess using an integrated curriculum, that includes learning for inclusion through communication, self-regulation, social emotional awareness and development of social skills, that is differentiated to meet individual student needs. A knowledge and understanding of explicit teaching strategies and researched, evidence-based practises for supporting student with disabilities and additional educational needs is advantageous or a proactivity willingness for professional learning and feedback for applying appropriate interventions.

Teachers working at SPESC need an understanding of how to apply differentiated teaching for engaging students in learning, managing complex and challenging behaviours as well as meeting student’s sensory needs.

Applicants should ideally be flexible, have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, a commitment to a high-level of participation in collaborative team planning.
