The Commercial Lending Assistant I provides comprehensive administrative and organizational support to the Commercial Lending Department. Under limited supervision, in accordance with established policies and procedures, performs a variety of receptionist, secretarial, and clerical duties. Works as a team with other Commercial Lending Assistants to assist Commercial Lending Officers to gather information, take payments, and close loans. Troubleshoots and resolves business-client inquiries.
There is extensive contact with customers and the public both in person and on the telephone. Understanding of commercial loan documentation is integral part of the job.
Commercial Lending Assistant I generally works with 1 or 2 lenders who have a combined portfolio of less than 300 loans and/or $80MM average outstanding balances. Portfolio generally consists of less complex loans with balances under $1 MM.
What you will do- Serve as primary receptionist for loan officers, which includes but is not limited to answering incoming telephone calls, resolving customer inquiries within prescribed authority, scheduling appointments, composing written correspondence and memos, and providing administrative & clerical assistance.
- Prepare and maintain loan-related reports, including applications in process/pipeline reports.
- Assist lending officers in the preparation of pre-funding worksheets, loan documentation checklists and any other communications necessary to properly submit a loan package.
- Create/start collateral and credit files.
- Maintain and file loan application documents for loan officers.
- Prepare appropriate loan disbursement entries (cashiers checks, deposit, wire transfer etc.) on signing date, according to loan disbursement instructions provided.
- Anticipate needs and given general instructions, is able to outline assignments, conduct research, and propose solutions for projects or special projects.
- May perform Mortgage Loan Assistant duties as needed.
- Able to learn and use Bank reporting systems.
- H.S. Diploma or GED and minimum 1 year financial services preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
