Job Description
GE’s Onshore wind power capacity is growing fast and will continue to rise steadily in the coming years. WindHub Technician Responsibilities
- Work with site leadership to execute contractual obligations and activities related to electrical and mechanical equipment used in GE wind turbine generators.
- Perform maintenance, repair or replacement of parts to correct malfunctions.
- Troubleshoot complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems on variable pitch & variable speed turbines.
- Assist with site operations as directed by the manager with minimal supervision.
- Perform diagnostic electrical analysis.
- Document all work using computer‑based service reporting procedures.
- Respond to GE’s remote operations center as needed.
- High School Diploma or GED and at least 1 year of experience as a Wind Technician or Wind Mechanic.
- OR at least 2 years of experience inclusive of hydraulic, electrical, and use of basic power hydraulic tools. Must pass a Technical Knowledge Assessment and possess basic computer skills.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to handle repetitive weight up to 50 lbs and climb towers up to 300 feet daily.
- Meet manufacturer weight limits not to exceed 300 lbs including gear.
- Understand electrical schematic drawings, technical manuals, procedures, and regulations.
- Ability and willingness to work in various environments, including industrial, manufacturing, and power industry facilities.
- Flexibility to work rotating shift schedules and on‑call per site needs.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in a technical, electrical, or electronics field.
- Technical certification in wind energy or electrical/electronic field.
- Ability to work with a wide variety of personnel at all levels inside and outside the wind farm.
- Wind turbine experience.
- Willingness to take initiative and work without direct supervision.
- Experience in electrical, mechanical, and/or hydraulic work.
- Experience using hydraulic power tools.
- Experience with heavy equipment for facility maintenance, including knowledge of crane and rigging requirements.
Not a remote position. The work location includes all wind sites within IL Hub 2; employees are expected to work at all sites within this hub and may be assigned to any site within the hub.
CompensationBase pay range: $30.46 – $37.20 per hour. Pay may be influenced by experience, education, and skill set. The posting closed on July 31, 2025.
