Job Summary
The Fuel Handling Supervisor monitors the receipt, processing, storage, and delivery of primary fuels to ensure the safe, efficient, and legal operation of the Newton Power Plant.
Responsibilities- Directly supervise bargaining unit personnel and serve as a member of the management team.
- Coordinate activities of Fuel Processing to ensure effective and efficient planning of resource usage (manpower, contractors, money, machines, methods, and materials).
- Identify maintenance needs and set priorities for repair.
- Participate in budget development for Operations, Maintenance, and capital items.
- Maintain appropriate confidentiality of personnel and other company-related matters.
- Ensure that the current labor agreement is administered accurately.
- Manage small to medium sized projects.
- Implement protective permits and tags in accordance with established procedures.
- Analyze reports from Fuel Processing Control Systems.
- Lead the resolution of problems with Fuel Processing and Ash Plant equipment, production processes, or manpower.
- Inspect Fuel Processing for compliance with company policy and regulatory agencies (OSHA, EPA).
- Monitor train locations and movement.
- Input data into company Fuel Inventory Systems (FIS).
- Effectively communicate information related to Fuel Processing.
- Interface with corporate fuels group, plant employees, and contractors.
- Lead Fuel Processing training to increase plant efficiency, safety, and skill development.
- Participate in the grievance process, as required.
- Perform other related management and technical functions as required to accomplish the foregoing essential functions.
- Perform other duties as deemed necessary.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Five years’ experience in the bulk handling and storage industry (such as coal, cement, or other related areas), with supervisory experience preferred.
- Basic computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Good analytical, human relations, and communication skills.
