Accounting Manager, Financial Manager, CFO
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Vice President of Accounting & Administration to lead core financial operations and support executive decision-making within a growing organization. This role is based in the Chicago area and is ideal for a high-impact accounting leader who can operate both hands‑on and strategically.
This position offers broad visibility across the organization, including exposure to senior leadership and key stakeholders, along with a defined path toward a future CFO role. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical accounting expertise, leadership experience, and a proactive approach to process improvement and financial oversight.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, month-end close, and financial reporting
- Prepare and review monthly, departmental, and consolidated financial statements
- Perform variance analysis and provide insights to support executive decision‑making
- Ensure accuracy, integrity, and compliance with GAAP and internal control requirements
- Lead and develop a team of accounting professionals, fostering growth and accountability
- Partner with leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and strategic initiatives
- Support audit processes and serve as a key point of contact for external auditors
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and scalability
- Evaluate and optimize accounting systems and reporting processes
- Oversee select administrative functions, including vendor management and office operations
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
- CPA or CPA‑eligible strongly preferred
- 8–12+ years of progressive accounting experience with increasing leadership responsibility
- Proven experience managing and developing accounting teams
- Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls
- Experience with multi‑entity or complex organizational structures preferred
- Background in financial services or regulated industries is a plus
- Experience with ERP systems and process automation initiatives
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with senior leadership
- Based in Chicago, IL
- Hybrid work environment with regular in‑office presence
- Salary Range: $150,000 – $250,000 base salary
(Final compensation will be based on experience, skills, and qualifications.)
