Position: Director of Manufacturing (Frozen Dough Bakery Manufacturing)

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Director of Manufacturing oversees all aspects of production and supply and provides leadership to the plant managers across multiple sites. Overall responsibility for Production, Scheduling, Sanitation, and Warehouse Operations as well as associated responsibilities in Safety, Quality Assurance, Human Resources, and other related areas.

PURPOSE
  • Manufacturing Operations at our facilities is pivotal to our success, ensuring exceptional performance throughout the operation. This role encompasses strategic planning, process improvement, and team leadership, aimed at boosting productivity and maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.
  • Oversee day-to-day operational activities of the manufacturing facilities.
  • Ensure consistent delivery of high-quality dough products by enforcing rigorous quality control processes.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, positive engagement and empowerment of employees.
  • Work closely with senior management to set operational goals, strategies, plans, and policies.
  • Partner with Plant Managers and Human Resources to continually evaluate opportunities to enhance and improve teamwork, while developing leaders at all levels.
  • Drive initiatives that contribute to long-term operational excellence.
  • Lead, motivate, and develop the operations, maintenance, quality & sanitation teams to achieve high performance and meet production targets.
  • Optimize resource allocation and workflow.
  • Formulates and implements manufacturing programs to maintain and improve the competitive position and profitability of the operations.
  • Analyze and interpret data and metrics to foster continuous improvement and report on facility production goals daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, required training and environmental regulations.
  • Rapidly communicate to appropriate levels any significant challenges or failures that may pose a risk to the business.
  • Allocate resources when needed to each department.
  • Participates in new product development and planning by researching the cost and ability to produce the product.
  • Conduct Research & Development activities to develop new and optimize existing products.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and test new product prototypes.
  • Perform baking tests with relative technical product evaluations to ensure quality and performance standards are met.
  • Provide technical support and training to customers on the use of our product lineup.
  • Stay up to date with the latest trends and innovations in the food technology and safety industry.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of our frozen dough portfolio.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
  • Minimum of 5 years leading a facility, preferably in food baking manufacturing. Multi-site leadership experience preferred.
  • Experience managing a small to medium sized food manufacturing plant - experience in the bakery industry a definite asset.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations, HACCP, USDA, PCQI, SQF Class and Food GMP implementation (in a bakery environment preferred).
  • A good grasp of inventory management (cycle counting, materials management, etc.).
SKILLS
  • Proficient use of a computer, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, One Note), and other related applications or software.
  • SQF-Working knowledge of and implementation/maintenance of SQF Certification in a manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent technical knowledge of equipment, products, and processes within baking operations.
  • Strong background in HACCP, safety, GMP’s, and AIB.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and possess the ability to develop interdepartmental relationships.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills along with coaching skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse groups of associates and customers ranging from entry level to executive level positions.
  • Ability to work with multiple departments including but not limited to Cost Accounting, Purchasing, R & D, Supply Chain, HR, EH&S, Quality Assurance, and Information Services.
  • Leadership:
    Production Operations must have strong leadership skills to effectively manage and motivate a large team.…
