Position: Du Quoin Production Supervisor - Night Shift 7pm-7am

Position Summary

The Du Quoin, IL facility produces low & medium voltage power cables. As the facility continues to aggressively increase in productivity and lowers its manufacturing costs, there is a need to recruit a Production Coordinator to supervise and coordinate all activities of one or more major manufacturing function(s) during a shift operation.

Basic Function

This position is responsible for supervising and coordinating all activities of one or more major manufacturing functions on a particular shift operation with primary emphasis on assuring the efficient utilization of equipment and manpower to maintain production schedules, producing a quality product in a safe manner, coordinating production to meet production control schedules and maintain continuous flow of production, and implementing the necessary maintenance of equipment to ensure continuous production on an assigned shift.

Principle

Functional Responsibilities
  • Using thorough up-to-date knowledge of the process and equipment for which they are responsible, plans work and production for the shift.
  • Ensure associates have the needed raw materials, instructions, machine availability, and training to meet production requirements.
  • Observe and hold associates accountable for safety adherence, efficiency, overall production performance, following instructions and procedures to reduce scrap usage and waste. Evaluate process, work performance on each associate, and make recommendations.
  • Keep records during each shift on attendance, absence, call-ins, and overtime schedule and accurately approve associate time in ADP.
  • Handle the first step grievances within assigned shift in accordance established policy.
  • Support and ensure associates and the manufacturing function(s) adhere and utilize fully all lean tools including those in PG1

    OPS (6S, Visual Management, RTFT and Tier Communication).
  • Perform other tasks that are reasonable to the job as requested by Direct Management.
Supervision Scope

Direct supervision over hourly union associates and coordinates with various other departments.

  • Critical thinker, with excellent analytical abilities.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Solid planning, leadership, computer and administrative skills.
  • High energy, demonstrates urgency and fast pace.
  • Must be adaptable, professional demeanor responding to change.
  • Good understanding of business principles and practices; functions as a change agent who can effectively manage manufacturing to achieve positive bottom line results.
Desired Background
  • 4+ years of experience in manufacturing setting
  • 1-3 years supervisory experience leading a large team in a manufacturing setting highly preferred
  • Strong project management skills.
Education

Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
