Special Education Paraprofessional

Description Summary

Tipton School District is seeking a paraprofessional to provide support for special education teachers and students. Paraprofessionals are responsible for assisting teachers with the implementation of instruction and assisting students. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required. • Provide support for instruction to students
• Assist the teacher in the implementation of a classroom disciplinary plan
• Participate in building, grade level, and subject area committees
• Complete and submit forms and required reports in a timely manner
• Assist the teacher in communicating regularly with parents regarding progress and other educational concerns
• Participate as a member of an IEP team, 504 team or other student assistance teams as requested
• Assist in the implementation of special educational plans such as 504 plans, individual educational programs, and individual health plans
• Report suspected abuse, neglect, discrimination, and harassment as directed by Board policy

• Supervise students at all times

• Minimum: 60 hours college

• Read and understand board policy, administrative procedures, and forms and governmental regulations on an as-conveyed basis by the supervising teacher
• Complete forms and engage in written correspondence
• Present information to students when requested and respond to questions effectively

• Work with basic mathematical concepts
• Apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations

• Solve a variety of problems in many different situations
• Interpret instructions presented in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form
