This role oversees DevNW’s home ownership initiatives, including Community Land Trust (CLT) sales, down payment assistance programs, mortgage lending partnerships, affordability analysis, and home repair lending programs.

The Assistant Director works across multiple teams and community partnerships to expand access to affordable home ownership opportunities for historically marginalized communities while ensuring strong program operations, compliance, and sustainable funding.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable legal, regulatory, funder, and organizational requirements related to lending, servicing, and housing programs.
  • Use program data, outcomes, and market analysis to evaluate impact, improve services, and support strategic planning.
  • Supervise and support program staff, including coaching, performance management, professional development, and hiring.
  • Foster strong cross-department collaboration to create a seamless client experience across programs and services.
  • Build and maintain relationships with funders, lenders, public agencies, and community partners.
  • Manage program budgets, grants, contracts, and reporting requirements in partnership with finance and development teams.
  • Represent DevNW in community partnerships, coalitions, and affordable housing initiatives.
What We’re Looking For Experience & Technical Expertise
  • 5+ years of progressive leadership experience in affordable housing, mortgage lending, community development finance, home ownership programs, Community Land Trusts, real estate development, or related fields.
    • Equivalent combinations of education and experience welcomed
  • Experience managing complex budgets, grants, contracts, and multiple funding sources.
  • Experience ensuring compliance with lending, housing, regulatory, and funder requirements.
  • Current Oregon Mortgage Loan Originator license and NMLS SAFE Act compliance required.
  • Knowledge of Community Land Trust (CLT) home ownership models, including ground leases, CCRs, and affordable home ownership transactions.
Skills & Competencies
  • Strong leadership, strategic planning, project management, and operational problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships across teams, funders, agencies, and community partners.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and reducing systemic barriers to housing and wealth-building.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
Schedule & Working Conditions
  • Flexible scheduling options available, including 5x8 or 4x10 schedules.
  • Travel up to 25% within Oregon.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a company vehicle required.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 lbs.
Why Join DevNW?

  • Generous employer contributions to health, dental, and vision coverage
  • 11 paid holidays
  • Paid vacation, sick leave, and personal leave
  • A hybrid work model that supports flexibility and meaningful in-person collaboration across our four regional offices.
