Job Description

The successful candidate will be a member of the Towed System Intermediate Maintenance Activity (TS IMA) team in St. Marys, GA. This site provides direct fleet support with towed acoustic systems installed on submarines and surface ships, including 24/7/365 worldwide casualty assistance (CASREP) support.

Key responsibilities include conducting towed array module physical inspection, electrical testing, troubleshooting, array assembly and shipboard installation/removal of towed bodies while working pier side or in a warehouse environment. The role requires working in all weather conditions and may involve overseas travel and short‑notice CONUS travel.

The position may require occasional overtime to meet U.S. Navy operational schedules and occasional extended travel to support surge work at other Towed System IMAs.

Selected candidates will receive on‑the‑job training and are expected to qualify as a Towed Systems IMA technician. Interaction with Navy, Government, and civilian support contractors is required. For advancement consideration within the IMA program, the candidate must be a qualified Pier‑Side Supervisor per Personnel Qualification Standard (PQS) requirements.

Applicants must be capable of performing routine assigned work with minimal supervision and be able to obtain and retain a U.S. DoD security clearance at the Secret level and a U.S. passport.

Basic Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited technical institute or apprentice program in electronics above the high school level, or successful completion of a military electronics course equivalent to U.S. Navy "C" school, with at least two years of experience in testing and repairing electronic/electrical equipment.
  • Experience with electronic test equipment and operation of various handheld power tools.
  • Must obtain a minimum interim Secret clearance prior to commencement of employment.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to lift 40 lbs without assistance.
  • Must complete a background check and physical examination to be eligible to operate a company truck.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior U.S. military service, preferably Navy, with experience on a platform utilizing towed sonar systems (submarine or surface ship).
  • Experience with operation, troubleshooting, and/or repair of towed sonar arrays or familiarity with equipment such as AN/BQQ‑5, AN/BQQ‑6, AN/BSY‑1, AN/BSY‑2, SQQ‑89, OK‑276, OA‑9070/9070A, OK‑410 or OK‑542/542A.
  • Ability to perform light mechanical maintenance actions and operate a forklift as part of assigned duties.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products (O365).
  • Fiber Optic Certification.
Pay Range

Pay for this position is $20.24 per hour. The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include responsibilities, education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement, and other laws.
