Water​/Wastewater Operator

Amentum, a global leader in critical mission support, engineering, technology, and national security solutions, is seeking a Water/Wastewater Operator to support a government contract based in Kings Bay, Georgia.

• Operate and control electric motors, pumps, and valves to regulate the flow of raw water into the treating plant.
• Dump specified amounts of chemicals (chlorine, ammonia, lime) into water or adjust automatic devices that admit specified amounts of chemicals into tanks to disinfect, deodorize, and clarify water.
• Start agitator to mix chemicals and allow impurities to settle to the bottom of the tank.
• Turn valves to regulate water through filter beds to remove impurities.
• Pump purified water into water mains.
• Monitor panel board and adjust controls to regulate flow rates, loss of head pressure, water elevation, and distribution of water.
• Clean tanks and filter beds, using backwashing.
• Repair and lubricate machines and equipment using hand and power tools.
• Test water samples to determine acidity, color, and impurities using colorimeter, turbidimeter, and conductivity meter.
• Record data such as residual chemical content, water turbidity, and water pressure.
• May operate potable water purification plant to supply drinking water.

• Operate sewage treatment, sludge processing, and disposal equipment in wastewater plant.
• Monitor control panels and adjust valves and gates manually or remotely to regulate flow of sewage.
• Observe variations in operating conditions, interpret meter and gauge readings, and test results to determine load requirements.
• Start and stop pumps, engines, and generators to control flow of raw sewage through filtering, setline, aeration, and sludge digestion processes.
• Maintain log of operations and record meter and gas readings.
• Give directions to wastewater treatment plant attendants and sewage disposal workers in performing routine operations and maintenance.
• May collect sewage samples using dipper or bottle and conduct laboratory tests using colorimeter.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• High School education or equivalent.
• Must possess Wastewater Operator license or be willing to obtain it.
• Must possess or obtain and maintain Georgia Class III Water Operator license no later than December 2026, including successful completion of Drinking Water Treatment Class 3 Course no later than June 2026.
• Must provide verifiable evidence of a minimum of 12 months experience in the maintenance mechanic field.
• Must possess the tools of their trade.
• Must possess a valid state driver’s license.
• Must wear hard‑toed safety shoes that meet ASTM F2413‑05 standards.
• Subject to government security investigation and must continually meet requirements for access to all areas of Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance; US Citizenship required.
