Job Description
The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for safely operating equipment in a productive manner. This position will operate various types of heavy equipment, including but not limited to front end loaders, excavators (mini to large), dozers including GPS, rollers, haul trucks and applicable light and medium equipment to perform construction tasks.
Responsibilities- Safely and effectively operate heavy equipment such as: skid steer, dozer, milling saw, excavator, loader, roller and more.
- Work on tasks such as: placing material to grade, installing utility systems by excavating trenches with proper slopes or placing shoring and trench boxes, loading earth materials onto trucks using different pieces of equipment.
- Perform daily machine inspection and routine greasing, oiling, and fueling; fill out maintenance reports daily.
- Coordinate machine actions with other activities, positioning or moving loads in response to hand or audio signals from team members.
- Experience in all facets of operation to include excavator, loader, dozer, skid steer, etc. Operates heavy equipment in a safe and efficient way, including knowledge of equipment functions, running, navigating, detecting or assessing problems, mechanical aptitude, and driving.
- Knowledge of drainage work and utilities, materials, methods, and the tools involved in structural fills.
- Required to be exposed to a physical environment that involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes, or similar elements.
- A team and safety-oriented mentality; good work ethic and self‑motivated.
- Ability to follow directions or instructions, and to speak and write in English.
- Knowledge and operation of various GPS systems preferred.
- 3 years’ operating heavy equipment.
- Valid Driver’s License (CDL preferred).
- Satisfactory results of pre‑employment background check; able to provide valid US work authorization documents for E‑Verify.
- P‑6 or P‑7 Plumbing a Plus.
