Role Description

Waitings is seeking a skilled Longreach Operator for a full‑time, on‑site position based initially on the London Gateway Berth 5 project. Day‑to‑day responsibilities include operating barge mounted longreach machinery safely and efficiently, performing regular equipment checks, adhering to safety standards, and assisting in the completion of civil engineering, dredging, and rockworks projects. The role requires collaboration with site teams and ensuring all tasks are executed on schedule and to a high standard of quality and safety.

Qualifications
  • Experience operating longreach machinery fitted with GPS machine control and other related heavy equipment safely and effectively.
  • Strong understanding of civil engineering, drainage, or earthwork projects, with knowledge of safety regulations and operational protocols.
  • Ability to conduct routine maintenance and pre‑operational checks to ensure equipment functionality.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team on‑site.
  • Attention to detail, a proactive approach to problem‑solving, and commitment to maintaining high work standards.
  • Relevant certifications or qualifications for operating heavy machinery are required.
  • Experience in a similar role within civil engineering or construction is essential.
