Engineering Specialist - Gear Machining (BBBH

Pay Rate: $45–$47/hour

Overview

We are seeking an Engineering Specialist to support gear machining launch activities. This role will partner with the headquarters launch team and suppliers to ensure successful delivery of manufacturing lines and achieve key business and quality metrics.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support manufacturing process engineering for gear machining operations
  • Drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, and productivity
  • Complete PPAP documentation for launch readiness
  • Apply engineering principles to develop and improve manufacturing processes
  • Investigate issues, prioritize actions, and verify corrective actions (internal and supplier)
  • Lead and conduct process audits aligned with Powertrain guidelines
  • Perform ergonomic evaluations and implement improvements
  • Develop process documentation and work instructions
  • Ensure process capability for all gear machining operations
  • Lead lean manufacturing and variability reduction initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with plant, corporate, environmental, and governmental standards
  • Support ISO 14001 compliance and internal audits
  • Identify throughput constraints and drive improvements to meet Rate of Climb targets
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 5+ years of manufacturing/engineering experience
  • Strong leadership, communication, and teamwork skills
  • Experience with manufacturing processes and continuous improvement
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Gear manufacturing experience (hypoid bevel process: blanking, milling, grinding, heat treat, shot peening, lapping)
  • Experience with QDAS, Minitab
  • Gear CMM experience (Klingelnberg P40, Gleason Nano)
  • Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma knowledge
  • Problem-solving tools (8D, 5 Why)
  • DMAIC / DMADV (DFSS) methodology
  • Experience with FMEA, PPAP, DOEs
  • Familiarity with Ford Powertrain environments
