Engineer III Mechanical - Nuclear

Zachry Nuclear Engineering, Inc. (ZNE) is seeking an Engineer III, Mechanical for a direct hire position located in our Stonington, CT or Charlotte, NC engineering office. This is an in‑office role with occasional travel to client sites.

• Perform engineering and design activities for power plant upgrades and new power plant projects under the supervision of senior engineering staff.
• Conduct feasibility studies, equipment reliability investigations, and system modifications to improve safety and reliability.
• Develop, review, and document calculation methods, design change packages, and modifications.
• Collaborate with project teams, other engineers, and client review boards to evaluate conditions and develop design changes that enhance plant performance, safety, and reliability.
• Perform walk‑downs of equipment in an industrial plant environment, including ladder work, security‑controlled areas, confined spaces, and hazardous areas.

• Education:
  
  Bachelor of Science in mechanical, chemical, or nuclear engineering from an ABET‑accredited university.
• Experience:
  
  Minimum of six (6) years of mechanical engineering experience or equivalent.
• Technical skills:
  Proficiency in Mathcad, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Communication:
  Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to present to client review boards.
• Time management:
  Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and work overtime as required.
• Security:
  Ability to pass security and drug screening and maintain unescorted commercial nuclear power plant access.

  Conditions:
  
  Willingness to travel to client sites and perform work in confined or hazardous areas.
