Job Description - Trades Generalist - Full Time Evening Shift (2504461) Position Summary
Our Trades Generalist perform journey‑level work in one trade, and skilled and semiskilled level work in a combination of other trades in the repair and maintenance of facilities and equipment. They perform a variety of skilled and semiskilled maintenance, repair, installation and construction tasks in the mechanical, building, motor equipment and electrical trades.
Duties- Working knowledge of methods, material, tools and equipment used in the craft or crafts to which assigned.
- Working knowledge of applicable standards and plumbing and electrical code regulations.
- Working knowledge of the rules and regulations of the facility governing the activities of State wards under supervision.
- Ability to use the tools, machines, equipment and material of the craft or crafts to which assigned.
- Ability to train and supervise others.
- Ability to plan and lay out work and diagnose problems.
- Ability to read and interpret plans, diagrams, architectural blueprints and specifications.
- Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
Required Qualifications
Four years of full‑time experience in a trade under a skilled journey‑level position which would provide training equivalent to that given in an apprenticeship program. Apprentice training in a trade or training gained by the completion of technical courses in a trade at a school or institute may be substituted for the above experience on a year‑for‑year basis.
Preferred QualificationsPossession of a valid and current NYS driver's license. Hospital/Healthcare setting experience.

Posting OverviewThis position will remain posted until filled or for a maximum of 90 days. An initial review of all applicants will occur two weeks from the posting date. - Successfully complete pre‑employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook Medicine's Employee Health Services.
- Complete electronic reference check with a minimum of three professional references.
- Successfully complete a 4‑panel drug screen.
- Meet regulatory requirements for pre‑employment screenings.
- Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).
Failure to comply with any of the above requirements could result in a delayed start date and/or revocation of the employment offer.
* The hiring department will be responsible for any fee incurred for examination.
Compensation and BenefitsAnticipated Pay: $50,425 per year. Additional pay may include location pay $4,000, inconvenience pay/supplemental shift differential $575. The total compensation includes generous leave, health plans, and a state pension.
