Pay
Pay or shift range: $30.86 CAD to $32.18 CAD. Pay range is shown as an hourly rate. PCRS operates on a fixed wage grid with a step increase typically granted after one year of employment.

35 hours weekly
Core hours of work: 10am to 6pm
This position requires a flexible schedule that may include early mornings or evenings, and occasional weekends
About the Program
The Surrey Reaching Home Program (SYRHP) is a housing support program that assists youth and young adults up to age 24 in Surrey and Delta who are experiencing homelessness or are at risk of homelessness. The program focuses on housing stability and prevention by supporting youth to secure and maintain safe, appropriate housing. Supports include individualized housing‑focused support, assistance with accessing income supports, housing advocacy, landlord mediation, moving and setup assistance, and referrals to ongoing community‑based services.
Position Summary
The Outreach Housing Worker is part of the Youth Housing team and provides 1‑1 case management and support to diverse youth residing in PCRS‑run homes, community homes, and supports youth with housing search in the community. Staff help develop personal plans, provide life skills and support group activities such as house meetings and outings. This position involves developing relationships with youth as well as liaising with professionals such as social workers, school personnel, and community staff.
Workers may also provide moving assistance, landlord advocacy, and mediation.
Responsibilities
Provide individualized housing supports to vulnerable youth who are homeless or at risk of homelessness
Develop supportive and engaging relationships with youth, and develop individualized service plans in consultation with youth participants
Meet with youth to identify their specific needs, goals, care planning, and passions as well as support their emotional wellness, physical health and a strong sense of identity and belonging
Assist youth in maintaining program expectations such as attending house meetings, maintaining house cleanliness, supporting participants to attend school, work or volunteer opportunities and maintaining connection with their other support workers
Work collaboratively with various stakeholders, such as government, families, related organizations, community organizations and service providers
Maintain accurate case notes, monitoring youth progress, engagement and participation in the program
Other duties such as moving support, collection of rent, and other administrative tasks may be required
Participate and engage in a collaborative and effective staff team
Communicate effectively with coworkers and staff, and participate in team efforts
Participate in professional development and training
Sound understanding of tenant and landlord rights
Sound understanding of housing related documentation
A thorough knowledge of relevant government legislation
Ability to respond to crisis scenarios using agency protocols and ethics
Effective team collaboration skills
Experience creating and working within a culturally inclusive environment for staff, partners, and participants
Strong verbal, interpersonal, presentation, and written communication skills
Excellent time management skills and the ability to handle multiple, often conflicting priorities
Qualifications
Education
Required:
2‑Year Diploma or better in Child and Youth Care or related field.
Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree or better in Child and Youth Care or related field.
Experience
Required:
1 year related experience working with vulnerable youth.
