As a Shelter Resource Worker, you will engage directly with guests at a 24-hour emergency shelter.
Your role includes conducting orientations, connecting individuals to vital community resources, and contributing to a supportive and safe shelter environment. Strong crisis management skills and the ability to maintain professional boundaries are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
• Support and supervise guests facing challenging situations
• Accept referrals and share information with external resources
• Interview guests and ensure their basic needs are met
• Complete records and maintain accurate statistical data
• Assist in training and mentoring new staff members
Requirements:
• Related certification or Grade 12 plus 2 years relevant experience
• Familiarity with community addiction and mental health resources
• Current Occupational First Aid Level 1 Certificate
• Proficient management of stress and workload
• Criminal Record Clearance for the Vulnerable Sector
