This specialist team is headed up by Graham McCabe who has over 20 years’ experience worldwide and a local track record that includes projects such as City of Sydney’s bicycle plan and Western Sydney Airport ground transport plan. Graham is leading Urbis’ new transport advisory offer with the support of the well-established National Planning Group.

The Opportunity

The expansion into a new service offering means we are looking for a motivated and energised Associate Director specialising in Traffic Planning and Assessment to join our emerging team,

As a seasoned professional, you will draw on your skills and achievements, bringing considerable leadership, credibility and professionalism to the role, driving outcomes for our clients through superior advice and sub-consultant management, contributing to the overall strength and growth of the team.

Our team values diverse and creative thinking. We are looking for a self-starter, lateral thinker and outstanding communicator seeking an opportunity to be involved in city-shaping projects for a diverse range of private and public-sector clients.

About You

As the Associate Director, your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing an expert range of services including advice relating to the assessment of developments, traffic and transport engineering integration, approval processes and management
  • Providing advanced understanding of the trip generation, its impacts and mitigation measures across the range of planning and development opportunities.
  • Providing advice to internal and external clients on appropriate subcontractors for specific areas of traffic and transport assessments (e.g. traffic modelling, road design, road safety audits).
  • Identifying the appropriate specialist traffic and transport sub-consultants to match our clients needs, goals and objectives.
  • Assisting with forecasting, project budgeting and financial management;
  • Nurturing and developing individual staff members, through effective coaching and mentoring;

This role will suit someone with 8+ years’ experience, ideally in a consultancy environment, with a combination of the following skills and competencies:

  • Demonstrated high level knowledge and experience in traffic network performance assessment, strategic and tactical planning related to integrated transport systems and transport planning software and systems;
  • An advanced appreciation and understanding of traffic planning and assessment;
  • Demonstrates an advanced capability in written and verbal communications and engagement with a variety of stakeholders;
  • Has Post Graduate tertiary qualifications in Traffic Engineering, Transport Planning, Transport Management, or a related discipline;
  • Demonstrates an advanced capability in research and analysis of transport advisory matters;
  • Proven track record of identifying and winning new business or proven track record of building new clients and business in Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane
