POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direct supervision of the CJIS Manager I, this position is responsible for making a decision based on accurate information and providing quality assurance and verification for a recommended decision related to a firearm transaction. This position is responsible for providing quality service and information to internal and external customers with regards to these decisions. This position provides training and guidance to other members in the Firearm Eligibility Bureau (FEB).
This position is responsible for applying federal and state disqualifiers as well as maintaining, organizing, and prioritizing the section's work flow. This position must meet and maintain National Crime Information Center (NCIC)/Florida Crime Information Center (FCIC) certification as required and is responsible for maintaining the security and integrity of data housed within the department databases.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Specific duties include:
* Monitoring operational activities related to the research of conditionally non-approved firearm transactions to ensure receipt of complete, correct and accurate information to make a decision on firearm transfer eligibility;
* Evaluating firearm transaction record to identify missing or inaccurate information;
* Coordinating various daily work volumes and makes adjustments by monitoring the workflow status to maximize efficiency and productivity;
* Ensuring completion of assigned tasks by conducting a thorough review of the provided documentation and update systems accordingly;
* Providing functional and technical support to the various criminal justice systems and assists in system administration as required;
* Processing technical cases that require extensive research and applies relevant laws, policies, and procedures to ensure completeness and accuracy of criminal justice information;
* Creating cases to be docketed for review by the Office of General Counsel (OGC);
* Maintaining contact with customers as necessary to gather documentation, and provide status updates, or clarifications on firearm related transactions;
* Prioritizing tasks and manages case load per policy and/or direction from management as assigned in the Computerized Criminal History (CCH) workflow; and
* Researching and developing training curriculum for FDLE services, programs and applications.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
* Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective communication;
* Knowledge of state and federal firearm disqualifiers;
* Knowledge of the criminal justice system;
* Knowledge of the methods of data collection;
* Ability to collect, evaluate and analyze data;
* Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques;
* Ability to operate computers and other office equipment;
* Ability to monitor criminal justice information activities;
* Ability to work independently by planning, organizing, and coordinating work assignments; and
* Ability to communicate effectively.
Note:

BASE SALARY:
* $47,668.14
NOTES:
Starting salary will be at the minimum of the class pay range, unless otherwise dictated by FDLE's pay policy. The elements of this selection process may include a work sample and/or interview. Future vacancies may be filled from this position advertisement.
