Collections & Discovery Student Assistant

Job Description

The C&D student assistant supports the organization, maintenance, and accessibility of library collections and resources. This position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to work independently, and knowledge of Microsoft Office Products.

Responsibilities

Duties:

  • Searching the stacks for materials within the library
  • Assisting with the organization of library materials
  • Completing data entry and data manipulation tasks
  • Performing quality control of metadata and catalog items
  • Providing assistance as needed to Collections & Discovery Staff
Qualifications
  • Ability to work independently with strong attention to detail
  • Computer knowledge (MS Office Suite & Adobe Products)
  • Knowledge of general office equipment and office procedures
  • At least 2 years left before graduation
  • Familiarity with Library of Congress call numbers
  • Metadata knowledge basics
  • General library interest
