Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities
- Analyze and evaluate construction failures, defects and other issues in completed construction projects, including evaluation of design and construction means, methods, and specifications
- Review contract and sub-contracts for evaluation of scope, specifications, and work-product compliance
- Analyze construction defect issues in buildings and other infrastructure systems by conducting site visits and applying construction and engineering principles and practices in accordance with codes and industry standards
- Review construction documents and work change orders
- Conduct unbiased construction defect investigations for various types of clients
- Provide technical findings and conclusions in laymen's terms, both verbally and in writing
- Responsible for development and retention of clients
- Accept and integrate constructive feedback into job performance
- Support conclusions by appropriate testimony in legal proceedings
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establish personal networks and participate in professional societies
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, or Construction Engineering
- Four years of civil/structural and/or construction engineering experience
- Two years Construction project inspection experience
- Familiarity with construction claims a plus
- P.E. registration
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to accept and integrate constructive feedback
- Ability to travel overnight 20% of the time
- Ability to maneuver in and around an construction site
- Ability to climb a ladder and maneuver within and on buildings and structures
- Ability to lift 50
- Ability to drive to site locations in all conditions
- Ability to travel by airline
- Ability to effectively communicate with clients and colleagues
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment as required
