Job Purpose

As a Math Teacher, you will design and implement a flexible program that fosters student learning and personal growth. You will develop lesson plans aligned with school guidelines, build rapport with students, staff, and parents, and motivate students to acquire skills, attitudes, and knowledge for a strong educational foundation.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and implement instructional programs in line with the philosophy, goals, and objectives of the adopted courses of study.
  • Create lesson plans that provide effective teaching strategies, maximize time on task, and incorporate real‑world examples.
  • Maintain accurate student records and review records to understand each student’s abilities and needs.
  • Use a variety of learning modalities and differentiated instruction in each lesson.
  • Administer diagnostic assessments frequently to evaluate student learning.
  • Generate progress reports and refer students with suspected learning problems to support personnel.
  • Correct student work, review oral presentations, and assign lessons.
  • Coordinate class field trips as required.
  • Prepare students for state‑required achievement assessments.
  • Stay current in subject matter knowledge, learning theory, and curriculum practices.
  • Assist in curriculum revision, selection of instructional materials, and the selection of books and equipment.
  • Undergo additional duties as assigned.

Provide a Classroom Environment Conducive to Learning

  • Create a learning‑conducive environment appropriate for students’ maturity and interests.
  • Maintain positive rapport with students, demonstrating patience and nurturing support.
  • Ensure the classroom is clean, safe, and displays student‑generated work when appropriate.
  • Implement all relevant student‑conduct policies.
  • Develop reasonable classroom and playground rules consistent with school policy and maintain order fairly and consistently.

Instructional Planning

  • Develop lesson plans following established guidelines and goals.
  • Plan individual and group learning activities tailored to instructional objectives and student needs.
  • Prepare for classes assigned and provide evidence of preparation upon request.
  • Participate with other staff members in curriculum planning meetings.
  • Integrate diagnostic information into all planning, including students’ Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Take necessary precautions to protect supplies, equipment, materials, and facilities.

School/Community Relations

  • Establish cooperative relations and communicate with parents/guardians when appropriate.
  • Communicate clearly, consistently, and positively with parents via appropriate mediums.
  • Cooperate with administration, other staff, and the school organization.
  • Maintain confidentiality concerning student records.
  • Participate in parent communication activities and extracurricular events to support a positive school culture.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree (BA) from an accredited college or university or equivalent.
  • Valid teaching certification as appropriate.
  • One (1) to three (3) years of teaching experience (may include student‑teaching internship).
  • Strong time‑management, organizational, and prioritization skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, written, and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Student Information System (SIS), and email communications.
  • Commitment to company values and adherence to the Code of Ethics for the Education Profession.
  • Successful criminal and employment background checks.
  • Ability to maintain consistent attendance, punctuality, and responsiveness to management direction.
  • Capable of implementing best practices and character education consistently.
  • Possession of additional qualifications as determined appropriate by the company.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
Work Environment
  • Usual school working conditions.
  • May be noisy during high student traffic periods.
Physical Demands
  • No physical exertion required.
  • Somewhat stressful due to frequent student activity.
  • Light work:
    Exerting up to 20 pounds occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds as needed to move objects.
FLSA Overtime Category

Job is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
