Citibank, N.A. seeks a Model Validation 2nd LOD Lead Analyst for its Tampa, Florida location.
Responsibilities- Validate credit risk models using statistical and mathematical tools and economic and finance theories.
- Test model assumptions and assess model performance.
- Assess adequacy and relevance of modeling data.
- Design and execute quantitative and statistical testing on model framework and performance.
- Perform data analysis and quantitative/statistical tests using statistical tools, including large‑scale analysis with Python, Linux, and SQL.
- Manage model risk across the model life cycle, including ongoing performance evaluations, annual model reviews, and monitoring and governance plans.
- Oversee portfolios and manage stakeholder interactions with model developers and business owners throughout the model life cycle.
- Challenge model assumptions, mathematical formulations, model performances, and implementation.
- Quantify risk associated with model limitations, advise on compensating controls, and inform stakeholders of risk profile.
- Review and challenge overlay and model change proposals, assess risk control actions related to limitations, business initiatives, operation plans, and regulatory feedback.
- Conduct analysis and create technical documentation reports for validation purposes, meeting regulatory guidelines and exceeding industry standards.
- Comply with regulatory examinations, including CCAR and DFA Stress testing exercises by the FRB and OCC.
- Present model validation findings to senior management and supervisory authorities.
- Document model validation outcomes and findings, communicating results to diverse audiences.
- Represent the bank in interactions with regulatory agencies as required.
- Contribute to strategic, cross‑functional initiatives within the model risk organization.
- Identify modeling opportunities that yield measurable business results, engage stakeholders early, and seek collaboration opportunities.
- Develop and validate models applied in climate risk areas, assess model sensitivity to macroeconomic and climate risk drivers, and evaluate impacts on bank reserves and planning from climate‑risk shocks.
- Evaluate data relevance and methodology soundness of climate risk models, and assess compliance with regulatory requirements of local agencies such as HKMA, OSFI, MAS, and OJK.
- Assist in preparing packages for regulatory climate exercise examinations.
- Provide guidance and instructions to junior validators for policies and procedures.
- Lead projects as necessary and ensure accuracy of validations performed by validators. Perform supervisory and peer reviews.
- Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering (any), or related field AND 3 years of experience in model/analysis/validation roles in a global financial services institution; or Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of progressively responsible experience.
- Experience in data analysis, identifying data inconsistencies, defining business issues.
- Assessment of model development process including data processing, conceptual soundness, and mathematical formulation.
- Statistical testing of model framework, assumptions, and performance.
- Financial risk management and economic research into macro‑economic risk drivers.
- Evaluation of model performance in various macro‑economic scenarios and macro‑economic impacts for capital planning.
- Proficient in statistical tests: diagnostic, sensitivity, stress testing, backtesting, and impact analysis.
- Proficient with statistical software: R, SQL, and large‑scale analysis platforms.
- Experience with simulations and performance tests using Python, Java, and Linux.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements:
Basel, CCAR, ICAAP, IFRS9, CECL. - Technical writing and presenting, including regulatory initiatives such as climate‑risk examinations.
- Project management skills.
Wage Range: $134,300 to $154,300
