Overview
The Apps Support Senior Manager accomplishes results through the management of professional teams and departments, integrating subject‑matter expertise within a defined area. This role contributes to the standards that others will operate in, requiring an in‑depth understanding of how functions integrate within the sub‑function and coordinate objectives across the entire function. It also involves commercial awareness, communication, and diplomacy skills to guide, influence, and convince colleagues and external customers.
The manager has responsibility for volume, quality, timeliness, and delivery of end results, and may oversee short‑term resource planning, budgeting, and policy formulation for their area. Duties include full team management, performance evaluation, compensation, hiring, disciplinary actions, and budget approval.
- Manage one or more apps support teams.
- Provide technical oversight across systems and applications, leveraging skills across multiple apps support areas.
- Offer a holistic view of the production environment for both technology and business management, working closely as a trusted partner for senior business heads.
- Guide feedback reviews with development managers, ensuring outstanding issues are tracked to closure, especially long‑term strategic fixes.
- Perform controlled resolution of incidents and problems, including prioritization, escalation to relevant groups when appropriate, root‑cause analysis, and follow‑through to resolution.
- Consult with primary application users and development managers to understand strategic objectives.
- Maintain awareness of audit and compliance related issues.
- Contribute to the formulation of strategies for apps support and other functional areas.
- Champion stability initiatives to enable application high availability, including better monitoring, failover, and resiliency.
- Handle incidents, problems, and change at a global enterprise level, remaining calm and analytical during major incidents on critical systems.
- Share responsibility for budget management, directly impacting the apps support area, and manage resource planning.
- Maintain customer satisfaction requirements of operational procedures to achieve suitable outcomes for all stakeholders.
- Exhibit sound and comprehensive communication and diplomacy skills when exchanging complex information with operations and technology partners on a regional or global basis.
- Focus on people development, evaluating subordinates’ performance and making decisions on pay increases, hiring, terminations, and other personnel actions, deputizing for the regional support manager.

- Assess risk appropriately when business decisions are made, demonstrating consideration for the firm’s reputation and safeguarding its assets by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations, and reporting control issues transparently.
- 6–10 years of experience in an apps support role (advantageous but not essential).
- People‑management experience.
- Highly assertive communication skills and a commanding personality, confident in all communications.
- Experience with application support (advantageous but not essential).
- Ability to share information effectively with other support teams and technology teams.
- Strong planning and organizational skills.
- Consistent demonstration of clear and concise written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to communicate appropriately to stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s or university degree or equivalent work experience.
- Application Architecture – understanding of application design, components, integrations, and data flows (e.g., microservices, monolithic, client‑server models).
- Programming Languages & Frameworks – familiarity with Java, Python, .NET, Node.js, and related frameworks.
- API & Integration Technologies – knowledge of REST, SOAP, message queues such as Kafka or Rabbit
