We are currently looking for a Area Academic Manager to start 19th June –25th August 2013.  This is a well established English organization with a proven track record. This is a  dual role working as a DoS for our Edinburgh city school but also working as Area Academic Manager

The DoS for Edinburgh City will be directly responsible both to the Centre Manager for the smooth educational management of our Edinburgh City summer centre, and to the Senior Academic Manager for the quality of educational delivery.

Responsibilities will include:
***Testing and placement of students and timetabling.
***Teacher induction and day to day teacher support.
***Leading regular teachers’ meetings.
***Management of materials and other teaching resources.
***Administering Trinity exams.
***Lesson observations and teacher reports.
***Ensuring accurate records are maintained (registers, records of work done etc) and all reports and certificates are issued and completed.
***Troubleshooting and resolving any issues that arise over any aspect of the educational programme.
***Ensuring that the educational programme coordinates logically and smoothly with other aspects of the course such as excursions, local visits etc.
***Liaising with head office on staffing requirements.
***Teaching as standby whenever required.
***Assisting other senior managers in other general aspects of the centre management (whether directly related to the tuition programme or not)
***Assisting the Centre Manager as required and assuming the role of Centre Manager in his/her absence and taking responsibility for the Teacher syllabus.

An outline syllabus will be suggested by our client, as Director of Studies, will allow this to be supplemented and developed as required.

This is a dual role working as a DoS at our Edinburgh city school but also working as an Area Academic Manager for the Edinburgh Telford centre. As an Area Academic Manager you will ensure the successful delivery of the academic programme in each of your cluster centres and main duties will include:
***Timetabling visits to Edinburgh Telford centre with the Directors of Studies (DoS).
***Travelling between Edinburgh city school and Telford centre (as required).
***Induction of Directors of Studies (where necessary).
***Assisting with induction of teachers (where necessary).

The AAM will be responsible for Teacher observation, facilitating peer observation by relieving teachers of class duties, INSET (In-Service training) and assisting Teachers with lesson planning.

The AAM will also be responsible for supporting the DoS at Edinburgh Telford including:
***Academic administration support.
***Assisting DoS with student testing and induction (where possible).
***Ensuring student records are kept up to date.
***Assisting DoS with any grievances /complaints/disciplinary issues.
***Timetabling support.
***Weekly telephone contact with DoS’.
***De-briefing teachers/DoS’ at close of contract (where possible).
Position Requirements
Bachelor, 1 to 2 Years work experience
The suitable incumbent with be DELTA and degree qualified with a significant track record gained at a managerial level within education. Summer centre experience gained in a supervisory role is also essential. Other Teaching qualifications may also be considered with the right track record AND the DELTA qualification. -All academic staff must hold a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized third level institution.
-Academic Managers who are involved in the professional development of colleagues need to hold a DELTA or equivalent qualification (Candidates with Masters in TEFL or TESOL must also include a teaching practice element to be considered for senior academic posts).
-There is only limited scope for the provision of accommodation and being able to organise your own accommodation in the area, or be within a reasonable commuting distance would be considered for a higher rate.

-Previous summer school experience or teaching on residential courses essential
