Coordinates and implements all activities for children ages 1 to 5 years at a program site. Interacts with school or organization and adheres to all ADHS requirements.


1. Supervises, implements and directs preschool child care program and other program staff for specific site.

2. Understands and maintains ADHS state licensing rules and regulations and YMCA child care program standards.

3. Develops positive relationships with children and parents.

4. Encourages member involvement and identifies potential volunteers.

5. Controls, orders supplies, and maintains inventory.

6. Ensures pertinent site records, files, and other required administrative procedures are completed and maintained.

7. Posts daily all required information in assigned place at program site.

8. Works closely with host site personnel in coordination of the site.

9. Preserves quality condition of all supplies, equipment, materials, and cleanliness of site.

10. Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations, and procedures, including emergency procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.

11. Attends staff meetings and trainings as required.

12. Incorporates the mission, philosophy, and 4 core values of the YMCA in all communication with participants and co-workers.

13. Be detailed at journal documentation.

14. Creative and organized to reflect the children's ideas and attitudes into group books.

15. Work with and understand the cultural diversity of local community.

21 years of age or older

Current state approved first-aid certification

Current CPR certification

Fingerprint and negative TB clearance

Documentation of high school diploma or equivalency

Three years qualifying experience in child care field and 6 credit hours in the child care field or 60 documented training hours

Knowledge and experience in early childhood education or child development

Possess mature judgment and sound decision-making

Ability to communicate effectively with members, peers and supervisor.

Ability to effectively communicate information on YMCA Child Care Programs. Must be observant, safety conscious and able to react calmly and quickly in an emergency.
