Estimator III – Senior Estimator
Rosendin, one of the largest employee‑owned electrical contractors in the United States, is seeking a senior‑level professional to lead and collaborate on estimates for medium‑sized and large projects.
What you'll do- Establish project objectives, procedures, and deliverables.
- Prepare the estimate from quantity take‑off on the project and produce the estimate to computer printout.
- Identify key project elements for competitive estimates and evaluate potential cost‑saving opportunities.
- Review proposal specifications, drawings, and attend pre‑bid meetings to determine scope of work.
- Provide guidance to personnel preparing the completion matrix discipline for assigned bids.
- Ensure all working documents and data are maintained to back‑up estimate figures.
- Develop labor productivity rates and installation unit costs based on site conditions and historical data.
- Prepare comprehensive lists of materials and equipment required for the estimate, specifying quantities, types, and required specifications.
- Identify qualified suppliers/subcontractors, solicit quotes, and review quotes for completeness and conformance with plans and specs.
- Prepare scope letter inclusions, exclusions, and clarifications for estimates.
- Provide the Chief Estimator with a detailed review of scope, technical requirements, and pricing for the estimated bid package.
- After a successful bid at project turnover, meet with the project management team to explain the job scope, potential attention areas, and other aspects for a successful transition.
- Maintain files of all working documents to backup estimate figures and update the Rosendin‑approved estimating program.
- Advanced knowledge of the assigned discipline, construction technology, estimating techniques, and cost control.
- Minimum supervision required for assigned tasks.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints or engineering design drawings.
- Proficiency in arithmetic calculations required for estimating.
- Experience estimating all types of projects and coordinating and supervising group work efforts.
- Mentor and assist with the development of estimators.
- Identify and meet customers’ needs, expectations, and requirements.
- Proficiency in using a computer and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
- Prioritize and manage multiple tasks with changing priorities under time pressure.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Self‑motivated and able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Effective professional interaction with all levels of employees, vendors, and clients.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of estimating or related experience in closing construction estimates.
- Advanced experience in Accubid estimating software, Live Count Cloud, and Bluebeam software preferred.
- Combination of education, training, and relevant experience.
Travel: up to 10% of the time. General work environment – sitting for long periods, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, bending. Work is conducted primarily indoors with varying environmental conditions such as fluorescent lighting and air conditioning. Noise level is usually low to medium; it can be loud on the job site. Occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs.
