Estimator-Commercial Construction Distribution Warehouse

Overview

National GC looking for an Estimator for Commercial, Warehouse Distribution and Multifamily Projects in the Tempe, AZ area. Excellent opportunity for growth.

• Define work scope and select subcontractors in cooperation with the Senior Estimator.
• Develop important relationships with subcontractors and consider these relationships when making decisions.
• Proficient in quantity takeoffs and in organizing and assembling estimates in Timberline.
• Successfully bid hard-bidding projects and organize scopes of work in bidday programs.
• Become proficient in conceptual estimating in Timberline through the CM Process (Program, Schematic, DD, CD, etc.).
• Understand CPM scheduling and translate it into construction budgets.
• Clearly communicate subcontractor scheduling expectations and understand means and methods of construction.
• Know labor productivity rates and unit costs of construction materials and labor; understand SF costs for different building types.
• Collaborate with Sr. Estimator on design-build projects (conceptual estimating, working with architects, and budget management).
• Participate in VE (Value Engineering) processes and working sessions; contribute to project turnover and forecast meetings.
• Call subcontractors and develop interest in projects; manage budget vs. actual costs through construction.
• Support the mission, values, policies, and procedures of the organization.

• Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a similar field.
• 4+ years of experience as an Estimator in the construction industry; construction field experience preferred; knowledge of the Arizona subcontractor network preferred.
• Experience in commercial, multifamily, or warehouse distribution sectors is a plus.
• Strong execution skills; able to carry scope from takeoff through a review-ready estimate.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment; clear communicator with subcontractors and internal teams.

• Critical skills: excellent customer service, strong computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam), proficiency in OnScreen Takeoff (OST); attention to detail; good time management; profit-oriented; clear written and verbal communication; team player; industry knowledge and awareness of current market conditions and subcontractor networks.
