Commissioning & Energy Specialist – Mesa or Phoenix, AZAs a Commissioning & Energy Specialist on our team, you will participate in both onsite and office activities to support Commissioning and Energy projects.
Key ResponsibilitiesYou will lead and perform all commissioning‑related activities, including testing (QA/QC, Functional Performance) and equipment and systems start‑up, ensuring a safe and functional environment that meets established design requirements and stakeholder expectations.
Projects will include commissioning for new construction and renovations, existing building commissioning, and asset‑management projects.
You will work directly with Jacobs clients, project stakeholders, and contractors to achieve the best possible outcome for owners and clients, focusing on operational performance and efficiency.
You will also be involved in energy projects such as audits, efficiency studies, and renewable‑energy development to improve client performance.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or equivalent experience
- At least 5 years of experience in commissioning, design, or construction management with a focus on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or building‑envelope systems
- Working knowledge of building‑code requirements
- U.S. citizenship
- Ability to travel up to 50%, including multi‑week field assignments and periodic long‑term assignments
- Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, or building‑envelope systems
- Understanding of the construction process
- Experience in mission‑critical/data‑center construction and/or operation
- Industry‑recognized commissioning certification
- Professional Engineer licensure or Engineer‑in‑Training certification
- Industry‑recognized energy‑management certification
- Current or past security clearance
- LEED or other sustainability certification

Base salary range: $85,000.00 to $. Pay is determined by location, skills, and experience.
