Commissioning and Energy Specialist

As a key member of our Commissioning practice within the Advisory Solutions group, you will collaborate with architects and engineers to provide specialized services that support our clients and their projects. In this role, you will engage in both onsite and office activities to drive success in Commissioning and Energy projects.

Your responsibilities will include leading and managing all commissioning‑related activities such as testing (QA/QC, Functional Performance) and equipment/system start‑up, ensuring that all projects lead to safe and functional environments that meet design specifications and stakeholder satisfaction. You will work on various projects including new construction, renovations, existing building commissioning, and asset management initiatives.

In this role, you will directly interact with Jacobs clients, project stakeholders, and contractors, focusing on achieving optimal outcomes with an emphasis on operational performance and efficiency. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to contribute to energy initiatives such as audits, efficiency studies, and renewable energy development aimed at enhancing client performance.

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related field
• At least 5 years of experience in commissioning, design, or construction management with a focus on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or building envelope systems
• Working knowledge of building code requirements
• US Citizenship is required
• Ability to travel up to 50% – Travel may involve multi‑week field assignments and periodic long‑term assignments

Ideally, we would like you to have:

• Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, or building envelope systems
• Understanding of the Construction process
• Experience in mission critical/data center construction and/or operations
• Industry recognized commissioning certification
• Professional Engineer licensure or Engineer‑In‑Training Certification
• Industry recognized energy management certification
• Current or past security clearance
• LEED or other sustainability certification
