Mainframe Engineer - Architect

Location: India

We are seeking a Mainframe Engineer with strong expertise in SAS on z/OS and COBOL to design, build, and support batch data processing solutions on IBM Mainframe. The role involves developing and optimizing SAS programs and COBOL modules, orchestrating JCL workflows, integrating with DB2/VSAM datasets, and ensuring high reliability for mission-critical jobs. You will collaborate with data, application, and operations teams to deliver accurate, timely outputs and modernize legacy processes where feasible.

Key Responsibilities SAS Development on z/OS Design, code, and optimize SAS Base/Macro/SQL programs for batch processing, analytics, and reporting. Build parameterized, reusable macros; manage libraries and cataloged procedures. Perform performance tuning, indexing, and efficient I/O against large VSAM/DB2 datasets. Validate data quality and implement robust error handling and logging. COBOL and Mainframe Engineering Develop and maintain COBOL batch programs; read/write VSAM and DB2;

handle flat files and copybooks. Create and maintain JCL for multi-step jobs; code PROCs, condition codes, and dataset management. Integrate SAS and COBOL workflows (e.g., SAS-generated files consumed by COBOL or vice versa). Conduct code reviews, unit tests, and support LE/370 runtime considerations.
