Job Title: Quality Technician
Location: Rockwood, TN
Status: Non-exempt, Hourly
Reports to: Quality Manager
Hours: Monday
- Friday,7:30am - 4:00pm
Job Summary:
The Manufacturing Quality Technician is responsible for monitoring and verifying the quality of parts and processes in a manufacturing environment. This role involves inspecting parts, troubleshooting quality issues, supporting root cause analysis, and ensuring that all production outputs meet established specifications and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform in-process, first-piece, and final product inspections in accordance with company quality standards and procedures.
- Use measuring tools and equipment (e.g., calipers, micrometers, height gauges, CMM, optical comparators) to validate part dimensions and tolerances.
- Review and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and control plans.
- Document non-conformances and assist in corrective/preventive action processes.
- Maintain detailed inspection and test records in both digital and physical formats.
- Support internal audits and participate in external audits as needed.
- Assist in calibrating inspection and test equipment.
- Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to address quality issues and identify continuous improvement opportunities.
- Perform basic testing and sampling procedures (mechanical, visual, or functional) as required by product type.
- Follow ISO 9001, IATF 16949, or other relevant quality system standards.
- Associate degree in a technical field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 2+ years of experience in manufacturing quality or technician role.
- Strong understanding of measurement systems and tools.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and GD&T.
- Familiarity with quality documentation (e.g., inspection reports, control plans, PPAP).
- Proficient in basic math and computer skills (MS Excel, quality software, ERP systems).
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- ASQ Certified Quality Technician (CQT), Certified Calibration Technician (CCT) or equivalent.
- Experience with CMM programming or operation.
- Knowledge of SPC, FMEA, 8D, or other quality tools/methodologies.
- Experience in a specific manufacturing sector (automotive, aerospace, plastics, electronics, etc.).
