Job DescriptionJob Title: Head Girls Basketball Coach / Teacher
Primary Purpose
Provide leadership for the girls basketball program while serving as a classroom teacher. Develop student‑athletes academically and athletically, emphasizing teamwork, discipline, sportsmanship, and character in a small rural school environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Valid Texas teaching certificate (appropriate subject area)
- CDL (or willingness to obtain) preferred
- Ability to teach multiple subjects/grade levels preferred
- Coaching experience preferred
Instructional Duties
- Teach assigned classes and prepare lesson plans aligned with state standards
- Maintain a positive, structured classroom environment
- Monitor student progress and communicate with parents
- Meet all grading, documentation, and compliance requirements
Coaching Duties
- Direct and manage the girls basketball program (7–12 alignment)
- Plan and conduct practices, skill development, and off‑season programs
- Coach contests and develop game strategies
- Promote sportsmanship, discipline, and teamwork
- Encourage multi‑sport participation
Program Management
- Coordinate with assistant and junior high coaches
- Maintain equipment, uniforms, and program inventory
- Assist with scheduling and game arrangements
- Ensure student‑athlete eligibility and required paperwork
Performance Expectations
- Maintain an effective classroom and instructional program
- Build a competitive, disciplined basketball program
- Demonstrate leadership, organization, and strong communication
- Contribute positively to school culture and community pride
