SummaryAs the Solar Technician II, your daily responsibilities begin with accessing tasks via SCADA, Maximo, or SAP software systems upon arrival at the Sypert Branch solar plant. You will repair, troubleshoot, and fulfill technical repair work orders for solar panels, manage documentation, update parts inventory, and submit on‑site status reports. You will also participate in safety protocols, on‑call rotations, and must reside within 50 miles of the site.
Key Responsibilities- Perform corrective, preventive, and emergency maintenance and operations within qualified skill areas, ensuring safety and efficiency.
- Coordinate high‑voltage switching activities with local utilities and independent system operators, including substation operations, equipment lockouts, and grounding.
- Work independently or as part of a crew to complete assigned tasks across solar power plant systems.
- Utilize SCADA systems and other digital tools for monitoring and diagnostics, along with test equipment such as megger and IV curve testers.
- Travel to various sites as required to support maintenance and operational needs.
- Minimum High School Diploma/GED.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience in solar generation sites, wind generation sites, manufacturing or mining operations, or controls & industrial maintenance.
- Ability to work long hours, often outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Comfortable standing, kneeling, or crouching for extended periods.
- Capacity to be on call as deemed necessary by supervisor.
- Field position requiring regular travel to client site(s).
- Requires daily attendance at a worksite.
- Must be available to travel domestically to other solar plants for emergencies and assist with outages.
- Must possess a valid U.S. driver's license and clean driving record to drive company vehicle on and around the plant.
- Must comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies.
- Position consists of 20% indoors and 80% outdoors; may involve lifting up to 50 lbs.
Hourly Range: $30.00 – $38.00 USD.
This range represents the average expected pay for a qualified candidate. In addition to base pay, the position is eligible for a competitive bonus/incentive plan and emergency or on‑call pay.
