Primary

Purpose:

Maintain the district in compliance with federal and state regulations pertaining to fire and safety regulations.

• Education/Certification: High School Diploma, GED, or higher
• Valid Texas Driver’s License
• Comparable coursework in electronics, security, fire alarms, and pest control

• Experience: Minimum of two years in electronics and repair of related equipment
• Knowledge/
  
  Skills:
  
  Correct English skills, spelling, punctuation, report writing, data entry, filing systems, records keeping principles and procedures

• Inspect district buildings for repairs and maintenance to meet federal and state compliance rules of safety and security alarms
• Prioritize repair projects regarding security, fire alarms, and intercoms
• Develop a system for dealing with emergency repairs
• Serve as pest control
• Order materials as needed and maintain inventory
• Assist with inspections of fire extinguishers, intercom, fire alarms and report problems
• Practice good safety habits at all times
• Perform other duties as assigned

Communicate effectively (verbal and written); maintain emotional control under stress.

• Ability to stand, walk, talk or hear, use hands, push/pull, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, reach with hands and arms for 67% to 99% of the work day
• Able to sit 0 to 33% of the work day
• Occasionally lift or carry objects weighing up to 100 lbs
• Special vision requirements: 20/20 corrected vision; ability to identify and distinguish objects, adjust focus, judge distances and spatial relationships, observe area peripherally
• Work environment: exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, wet/humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, radiation, vibration 67% to 99% of the work day, explosives 0 to 33% of the work day
• The typical noise level is moderate
• Hearing requirements: ability to hear alarms on equipment, client calls, and instructions from staff
• Repetitive motions: foot control, both feet, hand use, grasping objects (light or heavy) for 7+ hours of the work day
